Prof. Drude holds a degree in Biology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ-1977), a Master Degree in Biological Sciences (Biophysics) from UFRJ (1980) and a PhD in Biological Sciences (Biophysics) UFRJ (1983). Researcher 1A of the National Council of Scientific and Technological Development, Full Professor of the Fluminense Federal University (1994); Full Professor at the Federal University of Ceará (2013). He was a member of four (4) mandates of the Advisory Committee CA-EL of CNPq. He was a member of the Advisory Committee of the Area of Geosciences and of the Multidisciplinary Area of CAPES. In 2009 he was elected a member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and since 2016 he has been a member of its Advisory Board. In 2011 he received the Bunge Prize in the category of Life and Work in the area of Oceanography. In 2013 he was elected Fellow of the World Academy of Sciences. He is a Member of the Scientific Council of the International Society for Mangrove Ecosystems. He was a Member of the Scientific Steering Committee of the Land-Ocean Interaction in the Coastal Zone-International Geosphere Biosphere Program (LOICZ-IGBP: 2002-2015). He was Visiting Professor of the Université de Toulon et du Var, France, from 1998 to 2006. Coordinated the Millennium Institute Materials Transfer at the Continent-Ocean Interface (2005-2008), and coordinated the National Institute of Science and Technology for the Transfer of Continent-Ocean Materials (2008-2016). He was a member of the Steering Committee of the Brazilian Panel on Climate Change and was Coordinator of the Climate and Ocean Sub-network of the Climate Network of the Ministry of Science and Technology between 2012 and 2015. He was a member of the IODP- 2016) and the Science Evaluation Panel of the International Ocean Discovery Panel (NSF) (2015). He has experience in the area of Ecology, with emphasis on Biogeochemistry and Environmental Contamination, working mainly in the
subjects: coastal environments, environmental contamination, heavy metals, biogeochemistry of tropical ecosystems, environmental monitoring and ecosystem support capacity, global climate change impact on biogeochemistry ecosystems. He has published 250 articles in indexed periodicals, 74 chapters of books, 18 books and guided 36 masters and 19 doctors. H Scopus Index / ISI = 39.
