Cristiana Simão Seixas holds a PhD in Environmental and Natural Resource Management (U. Manitoba, Canada) and an MSc in Ecology (U. Campinas Brazil). She is based at the Environmental

Studies and Research Centre (NEPAM) at the University at Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil, where she coordinates the Commons Conservation and Management Research Group (CGCommons). She is enrolled in several research and action-oriented networks, both national and internationally. Her research interests include Commons Theory, community-based conservation and development, traditional ecological knowledge, environmental governance, social-ecological resilience, human ecology and fisheries. From 2015 to 2018, she co-chaired the Regional Assessment for the Americas of the Intergovernmental Platform for Biodiversity and Ecosystems Services (IPBES).
